Guidelines can ease the design process by reducing the number of look and feel decisions and helping to keep those decisions consistent. Additionally, guidelines tend to be general in nature and do not address the specifics of a given problem. A guideline may state, for example, "Allow the user to cancel a potentially destructive action." However, it does not specify how to accomplish this. Interpretations of these guidelines can yield many different design solutions, good and bad. |
