Objective
Motorola required a showcase WAP phone for use in demonstrating the capabilities of their new WAP-enabled Timeport handsets. Motorola was one of only two major handset manufacturers to have working WAP handsets, but no major English-language WAP demo site had yet been launched to highlight the WAP services. Ideally, Motorola required more than a static Internet site delivered in WML; they wished to access a functional WAP application with dynamic, Flash Action-Scripted content to prove that WAP-driven Internet applications could be as powerful and useful as those delivered via the Web.
Solution:
Using the most advanced Macromedia Flash technology, Preface Media developed a fully functional action script based application, the Timeport Demo, which allowed WAP-enabled handsets to browse and simulate the entire functionality of the phone online. The resulting demo, viewed online by millions of enthusiasts, marked the first public demonstration of a fully-functional, database-driven WAP site by a U.S. company. |
